She has worked over 30 years with children and adolescents in residential school settings. As a military child, Carolyn grew up moving every 2 years. She credits that experience to helping her be able to adapt quickly to many different environments and being a self-described adventurer

Andrew’s rich background includes roles in youth mental health crisis intervention, trauma focused and multisystemic family therapy, offering a unique perspective to guide individuals and families. His expertise spans stress, anger, addiction, suicidal thoughts, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression and fostering holistic well-being. Beyond his professional role, Andrew’s diverse interests include fishing, snowboarding, basketball, golf, as well as playing the piano, all enrich his therapeutic approach. Jay is originally from Colorado and moved to Utah in 2022. He received his BA in English from the University of Northern Colorado and his M.Ed. in Administration from Wayne State College. Additionally, Jay has a certification in Special Education (K-12) from Western Colorado University and a School Leadership certification (K-12) from Liberty University. Jay has worked in the Special Education field since 2001 and has enjoyed working in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah during that time. In his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his two teenage children, riding his Harley Davidson, writing fiction novels, and relaxing at the lake.

Jennifer is happiest at work when providing support for those she works with, both staff and students. She strives to continuously implement the latest techniques of research-based mentoring and prioritizes the well-being and success of her students above all else. When she isn’t working, Jennifer enjoys spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loves outdoor activities such as camping and hiking, and takes full advantage of the beauty Utah has to offer.

Cheyenne is a graduate of Utah State University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and double minored in sociology and family and human development. She has held numerous positions in the residential treatment industry since 2011. She began her journey as a direct care staff member and quickly worked her way up to Program Manager before accepting the role as Admissions Director here at Logan River Academy. She has been with Logan River Academy for 8 years. She enjoys interacting with families and professionals and helping them navigate the placement process. Witnessing the growth and progress of the students has been extremely rewarding both professionally and personally. In her personal life, Cheyenne enjoys yoga, crafting, traveling, watching football, and spending time with family and friends.

Steve is originally from California and received his BS in Sociology from Brigham Young University. He received his MS in Human Resource Management from Texas A&M University and spent the first 20 years of his career in Texas and California. He moved to Utah in 2021 and loves living near the mountains in Cache Valley. Mindi has lived in Cache Valley her whole life. She graduated from USU in Health Education. She and her husband have been married for 23 years and have one son. Before joining Logan River Academy, Mindi has been in Health Care for 23 years working in several areas. She enjoys working with others and helping people thrive and succeed. Outside of work, Mindi enjoys spending time with family golfing and anything outdoors. As well as helping her husband coach/teach golf.

Kristine has been an integral member of the accounting team at Logan River Academy for over two decades, contributing her expertise and dedication to the school’s financial operations. With 22 years of experience, Kristine has held various roles within the accounting department, continuously expanding her skills and adapting to the evolving needs of the academy. One of Kristine’s most fulfilling responsibilities has been managing the students’ personal accounts, which has provided her with the unique opportunity to interact directly with the students. This connection has been a rewarding aspect of her work, as she takes pride in supporting the students’ journey while ensuring accurate financial records. She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking and camping in Northern Utah’s stunning mountains and deserts. When she’s not working, Kristine cherishes quality time with her family and friends, who bring joy and energy to her life. Her commitment to Logan River Academy and her personal passion for family, community and nature make her an invaluable member of both the academy and her community.

Stephanie was born on the east coast and moved to Utah with her family during middle school.  She then decided she liked it so much that she chose to go to college at Utah State University where she graduated with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has spent most of her career working with adolescents in many different environments.  Stephanie also enjoys riding and showing horses in her free time. Her love of horses has also become part of her clinical toolbelt, as she is trained in equine assisted psychotherapy. She believes that therapy is an active process and is more successful when the tools in therapy can be lived experiences and likes to incorporate real time experiences whenever she can.

Margaret has had the opportunity to work with youth and their families in many settings over the past several years. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2013 and master’s in clinical mental health counseling in 2017.  She’s worked with youth struggling through mental health issue, trauma, substance use, juvenile justice involvement, and in crisis support and parent/family supports.  She has developed a passion and commitment for helping each client discover their own unwavering, unchanging, naturally endowed worth and value, while strengthening family relationships and connection to community.  Margaret is excited to join you and your family as we embark on this new, epic adventure.

Cindy graduated from BYU-Idaho in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology.  After graduation, she got a job working with students with Autism and found a passion for working with kids.  Cindy taught Special Education at Shelley High School for 5 years and also went on to get a Master’s in Education Administration.  Once in Cache Valley, Cindy taught Elementary for 2 years.  When not at work she enjoys traveling and planning itineraries.  Cindy has taken her family to Switzerland, Austria, Argentina, Mexico, Hawaii, and other various places throughout the United States! She loves working with students and finds it very rewarding to help students achieve their academic goals, as well as helping students to build the foundation needed to be successful in their futures.

Sean is a Utah native who is excited to teach Science at Logan River Academy this year. He has experience teaching high school Science, teaching life skills programs in an adolescent substance abuse program, and working in the social work and educational technology fields. His unique mix of experience makes him a great fit for Logan River Academy. Lacey earned her B.S. in Psychology from Washington State University. She started her education experience in Syracuse, Utah where she worked with elementary and junior high special education students. Lacey has been teaching Math for two years and looks forward to teaching Math at Logan River Academy. In her spare time, she enjoys music and spending time with her family. Lacey has a daughter with special needs and that is what initially drew her to work in special education. Her daughter and her classroom students have had a great impact on her and she looks forward to teaching for many years to come.

Makayla was born in New Mexico but has grown up worldwide. As a military child, she moved to different states or countries every couple of years. Fun fact: Makayla attended four high schools as a student and graduated while living in Germany! After high school, she attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education in 2022. Since then, she has relocated to Cache Valley to be closer to her family. She enjoys crocheting, playing board games, and spending time with her two cats. Makayla is very excited to be teaching Math at Logan River Academy.

Christopher has been working with youth for over 20 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history as well as an International Cultural Studies Graduate Certificate. He taught high school for three years while working with children on the Autism Spectrum in schools and in the public arena. With over 15 years of experience working with special needs/behavioral students, Christopher finds this type of work highly rewarding. He loves coming into work every day to engage with students, help guide them through crisis, and applaud them when they self-manage. Christopher has traveled the world, both as a child and adult, and pulls heavily upon his interactions with other cultures and his historical studies while connecting with students. He is part of a fabulous blended family with three children, and a brilliant wife who uplifts the whole family.

Mark is a young and passionate manager who believes the best experiences in life come from working with kids. He approaches the students with empathy and understanding and thrives on helping students through crisis situations. He pushes them to self-manage and learn as much as they can and to focus on their own self improvement. He’s been working with students at LRA for the past year and loves the learning experiences provided through the diversity of students we have at the school. In his free time Mark spends his time outdoors rock climbing and writing, and is passionate about learning and improving himself as much as he can.

Alissa earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from Indiana University and is board-certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She started her career researching children diagnosed with Tourette’s Disorder. This led to her spending time on the board of the Tourette Syndrome Association helping to rebuild the Indiana chapter, leading support groups, and organizing fundraising events. 
Alissa hasexperience diagnosing and treating a range of disorders forchildren, adolescents, and adults in residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Her treatment focuses onproviding safe and effective medication management combined with elements of mindfulnessand therapeutic strategiesfor the best possible outcomes.
She loves her job and the gratification of seeing a person’s life transform for the better. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking with her family and two dogs.

Avenlea graduated with her Nursing Degree from Ameritech College of Healthcare. After graduating, she started her nursing career with children and adolescents at Primary Children’s Hospital in their Acute Behavioral Health Unit . After some time there, she moved to the east coast where she took multiple travel nursing contracts and worked on Adult Psychiatric units, Alcohol/Drug Detox units, and Adolescent Psychiatric units. After moving back home to Utah, she worked in the NICU and loved it. After experiencing working with all ages, she realized that working with teenagers is her very favorite and found herself at Logan River. She loves her job and enjoys connecting, treating, and understanding the students at LRA. 

Avenlea loves volunteering and has gone on multiple humanitarian trips to Kenya (3 times), Vietnam, and Fiji, with Kenya being her favorite (she states her heart is still there).

In her spare time, she loves hiking, traveling,  creating pottery, and spending time with her animals which include 3 dogs, a cat, chickens and honey bees.
