Adventure Learning
For the ultimate cross-curricular experience and to bring the classroom experience to life, this summer our students have gone on many adventures such as rafting, mountain biking, camping, hiking, paddle boarding, and rock climbing.
Whether they are seeing and learning about the geography of rivers while rafting down the Snake River or getting a hands on historical experience while hiking and camping in our beautiful mountains, the collaboration between academics and adventure learning provides a well rounded learning experience.
Sneak Peek
Our fall term starts August 19. We are excited to get our classes rolling. In the fall our students will be working towards earning that high school diploma by taking core curriculum classes as well as electives.
During fall term Adventure Learning goes camping, hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing as the leaves change to hues of red, yellow and orange. All the while collaborating with the education department to give our students a cross-curricular learning experience.
Meet our Team
Jay McClung
Education Director
Jay is originally from Colorado and moved to Utah in 2022. He received his BA in English from the University of Northern Colorado and his M.Ed. in Administration from Wayne State College. Additionally, Jay has a Special Education (K-12) certification from Western Colorado University and a School Leadership certification (K-12) from Liberty University. Jay has worked in Special Education since 2001 and has enjoyed working in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. In his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his two teenage children, riding his Harley Davidson, writing fiction novels, and relaxing at the lake.
Alisha Argyle
Lead Teacher/ Special Education
Cordinator/Social Studies Teacher Alisha Argyle graduated from Utah State University in 2015 with a secondary teaching Social Studies Composite degree. She was hired at Logan River Academy just after she graduated and has been working here as a high school Social Studies teacher. Alisha was raised here in Cache Valley and enjoys it very much. She enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, and hiking with her spouse and two kids.
Lacey Amparan
Special Education/Math Teacher
Lacey earned her B.S. in Psychology from Washington State University. She started her education experience in Syracuse, Utah, where she worked with elementary and junior high special education students. Lacey has been teaching Math for two years and looks forward to teaching Math at Logan River Academy. She enjoys music and spending time with her family in her spare time. Lacey has a daughter with special needs, which initially drew her to work in special education. Her daughter and her classroom students have greatly impacted her, and she looks forward to teaching for many years to come.
Emiline Manser
English teacher
Emeline graduated from USU in 2024 with a Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (FACS). She minored in English and Spanish and is licensed to teach both. She hopes to also teach some Spanish at Logan River Academy. Emeline and her husband live in an apple orchard, and she enjoys playing board games, swimming, and spending time outdoors in her free time.
Cindy Staley
Assistant Education Director/ Special
Education Teacher Cindy graduated from Brigham Young University Idaho in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology. After graduation, she got a job working with students with Autism and found a passion for working with kids. Cindy taught Special Education at Shelley High School for 5 years and went on to get a Master’s in Education Administration. Once in Cache Valley, Cindy taught Elementary for 2 years. When not at work, she enjoys traveling and planning itineraries. Cindy has taken her family to Switzerland, Austria, Argentina, Mexico, Hawaii, and various places throughout the United States! She loves working with students and finds it very rewarding to help students achieve their academic goals, as well ashelping students to build the foundation needed to be successful in their futures.
Kim Adams
Special Education/ English Teacher
Kim earned her B.S. in English from Weber State University and her M.Ed. in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. She has worked in education since 2013 and has lived in Ogden, Utah, for the past 20 years. She loves working with students who need extra support and is always excited to see their successes. Kim enjoys spending time with family, hiking, camping, and scuba diving.
Sean Carter
Science teacher
Sean is a Utah native who is excited to teach Science at Logan River Academy this year. He has experience teaching high school Science, teaching life skills programs in an adolescent substance abuse program, and working in the social work and educational technology fields. His unique mix of experience makes him a great fit for Logan River Academy. Sean enjoys hiking, raising chickens, playing board games, going on dates with his wife, and reading books to his four boys.
Makayla Winkler
Math Teacher
Makayla was born in New Mexico but has grown up worldwide. As a military child, she moved to different states or countries every couple of years. Fun fact: Makayla attended four high schools as a student and graduated while living in Germany! After high school, she attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education in 2022. Since then, she has relocated to Cache Valley to be closer to her family. She enjoys crocheting, playing board games, and spending time with her two cats. Makayla is very excited to be teaching Math at Logan River Academy.
