Student Program
Our program specializes in working with students ages 12-18 with trauma executive functioning deficits, depression, anxiety, academic struggles, trauma, unhealthy digital habits, and autism spectrum disorders.
Our team provides sophisticated clinical approaches designed to work with neurodiverse students including EMDR, Brainspotting, Neurofeedback, ACT, DBT, and CBT. In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, our students participate in adventure learning activities, healthy living activities, arts and culture, community service opportunities, and many other enriching off-campus activities. We treat our community as an extension of our campus.

Program Overview
Therapy
Many of our students are clinically complex. We offer individual, group, and family therapy for our students. We have a team of highly qualified, passionate, and licensed therapists to meet the clinical needs of our students. Each therapist carries a small caseload of students to ensure the highest quality of care possible. Our therapists provide individualized treatment to help our students reach their goals.
Academics
Students at Logan River Academy come with a variety of academic issues and need varying levels of academic support. We find that most have not had a good experience with school and for one reason or another have had a recent pattern of academic frustration and failure. Our school is staffed with teachers who are prepared to meet the individual learning needs of our students and help them discover academic success.
Community
Our Student Program places an emphasis on serving and being a positive part of our community. Through service, cultural events, adventure learning, leisure, and going to an off-campus gym our boys have many opportunities to expand their horizons and learn better social skills.
Healthy Living
Each of our girls has an individual treatment plan to address their unique needs. We work with our girls to develop a healthy body image, develop positive nutritional choices, and an overall active lifestyle. Our adventure learning program offers a variety of recreational and experiential therapy opportunities in our beautiful and vibrant community. Our girls are able to enjoy a variety of fun outdoor activities designed to encourage an interest in nature and an active, balanced lifestyle.
Service
Our girls are involved in a variety of service activities designed to increase their awareness of the world around them and develop a sense of community. We engage in service projects available in our community as well as those developed by our students and mentors. This gives our girls a sense of ownership over the project and helps them develop a lifelong passion and commitment to service.
Arts & Culture
Our girls attend live musical, dance, and theater performances. A local opera company and Utah State University afford many opportunities to expand their cultural horizons. They also attend local art shows and cultural festivals when available. The girls participate in culinary arts activities that educate our students on meal planning, food preparation, and nutrition.
Student Program Experience
Logan River Academy’s Student Program works with young individuals ages 12-18, focusing on developing emotional balance, social skills, and academic success. The program is designed to provide a supportive and structured environment where students engage in a variety of healthy activities, many of which they help plan.
Our treatment approach aims to assist students in developing skills to better manage emotional volatility, navigate adolescence in positive ways, and ultimately create healthy and balanced lives. Students acquire essential skills to foster healthy relationships, set appropriate boundaries, and improve self-esteem.
While our program includes specialized support tailored to individual needs, it also provides a co-ed school setting with additional co-ed activities. This structure offers real-world experiences in a safe and well-supervised environment, preparing students for life beyond LRA. Supervised interactions in traditional classes contribute to a more typical school experience, helping students develop appropriate social skills that can translate to future academic and social success.
Our comfortable living environment supports students’ needs for individualized attention and personal space. Dorms are specialized, spacious, and well-supervised, with limited student numbers to ensure access to the necessary support.
Our therapists are highly skilled in working with students facing a wide range of challenges, including:
- Executive Functioning deficits
- Depression
- Anxiety
- ADHD
- Screen Addiction
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Social Skills deficits
- Adoption/Attachment issues
- Mild Substance Use
This specialized therapeutic program is designed to provide superior treatment for students struggling with these issues. We use the ESSENCE model (Executive Functioning, Sensory, Self-care, Emotion regulation, Communication, Empathy) alongside evidence-based models such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). Additionally, we emphasize exercise, nutrition, community service, and mindfulness to support overall well-being. Our dedicated team works with students in an individualized manner to ensure personalized progress.
Dorm life is structured, predictable, and consistent, with highly trained therapists and mentors available to coach, process, and problem-solve. Our goal is to balance school, skill-building, work, therapy, and leisure through structured schedules and activities. Each student works closely with staff mentors who provide guidance and support in areas such as hygiene, cleanliness (e.g., laundry), Logan River Academy’s five principles, school performance, and other personal goals. Mentors collaborate closely with therapists to assist in improving areas of focus.
Students participate in frequent off-campus activities and remain engaged in the community. Additionally, they have the opportunity to work paid jobs on campus, earning minimum wage.
Our fully accredited school operates from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The school environment maintains a realistic and traditional feel while incorporating various accommodations to meet diverse student needs. With small class sizes and instruction through multiple mediums, we closely track students’ academic progress. Our program includes special education teachers, accommodations for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and a specialized academic environment to assist students in achieving high school graduation.
We use the ESSENCE model as our guide to treatment and focus on these core issues:
