SUMMER Program


The staff at Logan River Academy are eager and excited to announce our 2024 Summer School Program. Students who are looking to improve their math, reading, and study skills will find a supportive team waiting to help them!

The program consists of a 10-week session, serving all genders between 12 and 17 years old, that begins on June 2nd and ends on August 10th.

Physical health is important and we enjoy accessing the abundance of mountains, lakes, rivers, and streams that Logan, UT has to offer. Along with recreational activities on campus, we place emphasis in activities in the local community and wilderness. Activities such as: backpacking, kayaking, hiking, camping, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and any other activity that we can find the space to enjoy.

Program Overview

EDUCATION

▶ Focused Reading and Math classes to accelerate functioning
▶ Credits earned are eligible for transfer back to home school district
▶ Special Education supports available
▶ Coaching to improve Study and Comprehension skills

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

▶ Scenic backpacking trips planned to these exciting destinations:
• Coyote Gulch in Escalante, UT
• Kings Peak in Uintas, UT
• Cirque of the Towers in Wind River Range, WY
• Graduation weekend backpacking locally at Tony Grove
▶ Gymnasium on campus for indoor sports and activities
▶ Large recreation field for outdoor sports such as, soccer, volleyball, and football

CLINICAL SUPPORT

▶ LRA has a highly experienced clinicians ready to work with your student on a variety of issues.
▶ Multi-disciplinary, evidence-based treatment approaches are utilized
▶ Optional services available: individual, group, and family therapy

PREPARE FOR ARRIVAL

ARRIVAL:

Sunday, June 2nd between 11am-4pm MST

DEPARTURE:

Saturday, August 10th between 10am-3pm MST

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

GENERAL EDUCATION

Emphasis on Math and Reading for the summer curriculum

Reading and Math Competency Testing administered at the beginning and end of the summer

Elective class options are available for students, along with our full array of on-line course offerings to meet individual needs.

This allows the potential of earning up to 2.5 credits during the summer. LRA will award credits for academic work completed during the summer and we will work with parents and their Local Education Agency representatives to ensure smooth transfer of credits earned.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Our resource classroom, supervised by a certified Special Education Director, is for students who may need additional supports.

SCHEDULE

The school day runs from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Students generally will be enrolled in two classes each day and take the classes in the morning before lunch and repeat those same classes after lunch. Classes are taught by our certified, well-trained faculty and each student receives the support she or he needs.

We develop individualized treatment plans to specifically address the needs that each student has in these seven domains. A phase system provides ongoing feedback for the student, as well as a concrete method to help them to reach their goals.
